The model on QVC turned out to be only 1500 watts with less cooking real estate for the same $99.00 I paid on Amazon. The package was delivered quicker than I had anticipated so no complaints from me. The box was intact and didn't look like it had been abused during shipping. The Griddler was easy to assemble and as advertised most of the parts are dishwasher safe. After running the parts through the dishwasher, we used it for the first time this evening. In the lower area, I placed 6 skewers of beef shish-ka-bobs and on the upper grill, grilled a steak. The shish-ka-bobs were cooked to perfection in about 20 minutes. The veggies were cooked but still had a little "crunch" while the meat was very tender and cooked to medium. As usual, and as with all Cuisinart products. This unit is very well built, easy to use, and clean up's a breeze. The unit has a heavy duty calrod coil (heating element) that insures even heat distribution for both the upper griddle/grill, and lower cooking area. The griddle plate itself is a good size, and comprised of a very good thickness/weight. Therefore NO griddle cool spots. Considering all the options this unit has to offer, and the amount of food that can be prepared at one time. Due to its sleek contemporary design, it truly does not take up a lot of counter space. If you enjoy cooking & entertaining. This is a must have appliance for your kitchen. Wow-fast shipping. This is well made, heavier than other sandwich makers. The different heat settings are great, also the removable plates. The corn dogs stuck but they were the the first thing I made,I'm thinking I didn't get the plates oiled enough.Egss with bacon & cheese came out fine, so did the ham salad cheese wraps. This is going to stay out on the counter, I think I will be using it everyday. The lower level slice of bread came out slightly soggy. This may have been due to the moisture in the lunch meat and other items I had between the slices of bread. The top slice of bread was toasted perfectly. I've also used package pizza dough in this machine. There is a recipe included in the instruction booklet that is for this type of dough, but I just used my own ingredients for the stuffing. It turned out fantastic. I would highly recommend this product. It's 1200 watts. The GR-4, which I guess is Griddler "Senior," is rated at 1500 watts. The tiny Hamilton Beach indoor grill (with NON-removable grills) that I used before getting the Griddler Jr. is rated at 750 watts. According to an article titled "Grill Power" in the February, 2006 issue of Prevention Magazine, Steven Raichlen, host of Barbecue University on PBS, says, "The lower the wattage [of indoor electric grills], the less likely your meat will taste like it came from an outdoor barbecue. It is compact, light in weight, but heats up quickly to the appropriate temperature. Veggies, fish, chicken and steak cook evenly and quickly. It toasts panini's well even with the thickest bread and a multitude of fillings. The plates snap out easily so you can pop them into your sink or dishwasher and the plastic cleaning tool is well designed to let you get into the grooves and remove any grease. The only draw back is if you are grilling a large steak some of the grease may miss the drip cup and drip down the front of the unit, but I guess that's why sponges were invented.
